The illegitimate daughter of Gotham City crime boss Carmine Falcone and his mistress, a young woman woefully unprepared for -- and whose aspirations conflicted with -- motherhood, Selina spent her childhood in the foster care system after being abandoned at birth. Shuffled between foster homes but unable to be placed permanently, she would eventually find herself a stray on the streets of Gotham's East End and take up pick pocketing and shoplifting just to survive. Honing her craft as a thief, the stray became a lioness among Gotham's criminal underground, the Catwoman allowing Selina Kyle the means to buy her way into high society. Young and beautiful, brilliant and fascinating, dark and dangerous -- it was only a matter of time before she caught Bruce Wayne's interest. Their on-again, off-again relationship would span years both behind the masks and without leading to marriage or something a lot like it and, ultimately, a separation after the death of [Insert Your Robin of Choice Here]. Selina would eventually choose to leave Gotham and Bruce behind with it and is currently semi-retired and living comfortably in Italy, but it's safe to say she keeps an eye on things back home.
